You are walking down the road on a beautiful sunny day. Suddenly you see a charming girl waving at you down the street. You turn around thinking maybe it is the person behind you. However, Nah... what do you know? She is waving at you! 'Yes, you' she says. 'Have you thought about the environment? Want to help?' So you think... 'Well, of course, she is a fundraiser'. We have all experienced this before.

This frustration is precisely why we are talking about the Lead generation, more importantly, INBOUND lead generation. This process can transform your business from looking like a desperate seller or cold-hearted cold calling organisation to an authentic business that helps customers.

Let's start with explaining ...

What is a Lead?

An inbound lead is a person who has indicated interest in your company's product or service in some way. An inbound lead means instead of cold calling customers who have never heard of you, and you talk to potentials who are familiar with you and have shown interest in what you have to offer. These leads can be coming from your social media posts, your website forms, or through word of mouth.

Forgive me, us marketers love marketing jargon, and we throw it around like confetti, loving life! Not realising that most people have no idea what we are on about! In other terms, Lead generation is the art of finding unique creative ways to attract customers to your business.

Why is Inbound lead generation more effective?

The magic of inbound lead generation is such that strangers and prospects take a step in your direction when they see your helpful content versus you, the business, initiating the relationship without knowing if those people need your service. At Uphorium, inbound lead generation is the foundation to all unique ideas. Lead generation is the second step in the inbound marketing funnel.

How can you generate leads?

Now that we understand the basics of what is an inbound lead generation, let us understand how it generates new leads for you.

A visitor has discovered you online via your website, blogs, or social media. On the page you are taking your visitors, they have to come across a call-to-action. A call-to-action is an image or a button that prompts the visitors to take action toward a landing page. A landing page is a web page that has a specific purpose. In this case, it is to capture leads. A landing page captures leads by motivating visitors to fill out a form. Visitors will fill out a form with their details in exchange for value. A value can be resources or an offer. The offer must have enough value for a visitor to merit providing their personal information in exchange for access.

These are the basics of lead generation. I hope you continue creating great offers, CTAs, landing pages, and forms-- and promote them on various channels. Here is an eBook about lead nurturing and how social media, websites, and marketing automation can help you increase your leads.
